Recording Finishes

Operating the finish line page to capture athlete finish order and times.

Recording Finishes

The Finish Line page listens for the start signal and records each athlete as they cross the finish line. Open this page on the device at the finish line before the heat begins.

Ready state

Toggle Ready on the Finish Line page before each heat. When ready, the page listens for the start signal from the Starter. The Starter shows the finish line’s ready state so the official knows it is safe to proceed.

Capturing finishes

When the start signal arrives, the timer begins. Tap the screen (or press a connected hardware button) once for each athlete crossing the finish line in order. Each tap records a split time. The running list of finishes appears below the timer.

Recording bibs

After finish times are captured, open the Recorder page for the event and select the matching heat.

For laned heats, use the Heat tab. Tap each lane button in finish order, then save the heat. The recorder assigns bibs from the lane assignments to the recorded finish times.

For non-laned heats, use the Manual tab to enter each bib in finish order. If athletes have QR code stickers from the Participants page, use the Scanner tab to scan stickers in finish order. Each entry is matched to the next unassigned finish time.

Missed start

If the finish line received finishes before it received the start signal, a pending finishes warning appears. Tap Resolve Missed Start and select the matching heat to attach the pending batch to that heat. This recovers finishes that arrived out of order.

Connection status

The status panel shows the WebSocket connection state and sync status. A yellow or red WebSocket indicator means the device has lost contact with the server. Finishes recorded during a disconnection are queued and uploaded when connectivity is restored.

Premature clock stop

If you stop the clock before all athletes have finished, tap the space bar to record each missed finish. Before clicking Reset, a big yellow button will appear on the screen — tap it to associate the recorded finishes with the correct heat. Their times will be correctly calculated based on the actual start time.

After the heat

Tap Stop to end the heat. The finish records are saved and available on the Recorder page for bib entry and on the Results page for review and corrections. Tap Reset to clear the current heat’s finish list and start a new attempt.
